About love, over tea

Citadel Let us not forget to love people, as they are...
"When you truly love, you don't look at the other's clothes, nor at their wealth, nor even at their flaws. Fashion is a deception, when we make it a virtue. Beautifully crafted, to enchant you and distract your attention from what you should learn to truly love. That's why it's not good, because it encourages you to value the packaging at the expense of the content. It strives to give you only the illusion of value, an exaggeration of the claims you have about your own worth. It is the opposite of modesty, sister to arrogance and unequivocally, a clear proof of self-love."
"And what's wrong with that?" - you might ask me. To love yourself means to limit the universe of creation only to your own person, pure egoism, Lucifer's fall.
When you discover that only by living for others, you truly live for yourself, you will understand. Why do people do this? Why have we forgotten to appreciate beyond appearances? Why are we afraid to be natural, simple, and we complicate our existence so much, chasing after packaging, spending so much energy and money and time to pretend something else about ourselves, something without any real value?!
Our risk of failing toward unhappiness is colossal, because once and for all we will discover ourselves naked, that nakedness which we have not perfected, have not polished, but only hidden... When we sadly discover that we no longer know how to love man, we will have to carry the burden of the whole mountain of pretenses and trinkets that we have glorified for a lifetime.
"He who reads a love letter is utterly satisfied, regardless of how the ink and paper might look... He seeks love neither in the paper, nor in the ink..."
